Zontre Mack, of Canton, was charged with murder and possession of a firearm without a license in connection with the death of Curtis Ashford Jr. the Suffolk County District Attorney's Office reports.

Ashford was fatally shot outside his home on Ellington Street in Dorchester on the night of Wednesday, July 27, 2022, as previously reported by Daily Voice

Investigation revealed that Mack got out of a car driven by Dominick Gavin, who was also charged in connection with Ashford's death, and fired multiple shots at a group of people.

One of these individuals was Ashford, the DA's Office reports. The group then ran way, at which point Ashford was struck.

“The shooting death of a 15-year-old should not—and must not—become an event affecting only the victim’s loved ones and those of us responsible for bringing the offenders to justice," Suffolk County District Attorney Kevin Hayden said. "My heart and soul break with sorrow for Curtis’s family."

Mack is due back in court for a pre-trail hearing on Oct. 28, the office reports. Gavin was arraigned in September and is also being held without bail
